Apex Trader Funding vs Boxcar Trading: $50K rules and payouts

Apex’s new evaluations have a 30-day deadline; BoxcarPrime has no fixed completion deadline. After passing, Apex adds position scaling and five qualifying payout days. This comparison is published by Boxcar Trading from official rules checked October 21, 2026.

New EOD, new Intraday and Legacy have different rules

Apex’s new EOD and Intraday programs are separate from its Legacy accounts. Its homepage currently also advertises a limited Legacy offer, so purchase date alone is not enough to identify the rules. Confirm the account family shown at checkout and in the dashboard. The tables below cover the new $50K programs, not Legacy.

A brass sunset calendar marked End of Day beside a teal stopwatch marked Intraday, illustrating two drawdown timing choices.

An Apex Performance Account (PA) is simulated-funded. BoxcarPrime also moves from evaluation into simulated-funded trading before any separate live-account approval. Evaluation profits are not withdrawable, and the nominal $50,000 balance is not cash the trader owns.

Compare the $50K evaluations

All three evaluations below have no consistency requirement and can be passed in one trading day if every other condition is met. Apex’s access period includes weekends and holidays.

An EOD loss floor is calculated from end-of-day balances and enforced during trading. Apex Intraday instead follows the highest real-time equity, including unrealized gains. Giving back an open profit can therefore bring an Intraday account closer to its loss floor before the trade closes.

Apex reduces the initial position limit after passing

A new $50K Apex PA starts at two standard contracts or 20 micros, compared with six standard contracts in evaluation. Its scaling schedule permits three at $1,500 profit and four at $3,000 profit, based on the prior end-of-day balance. Tiers can fall when that balance falls.

The Intraday PA also introduces a Daily Loss Limit, even though its evaluation has none. The initial $50K PA DLL is $1,000. Reaching a PA DLL pauses trading for the session; breaching the account’s drawdown floor closes the account.

BoxcarPrime keeps its full four-mini or 40-micro limit in simulated-funded trading without position scaling. Its optional DLL selection carries over from evaluation and cannot be changed after purchase.

The first $50K payout has several separate limits

For all three accounts below, a $500 gross payout request requires at least $52,600 before the deduction so that $52,100 remains. BoxcarPrime’s $500 cycle goal alone does not satisfy that balance requirement.

Apex’s exact 50% boundary is inconsistent

*Apex’s payout rules and consistency-page text require the largest day to be below 50% of cycle net profit. Some examples on its separate consistency page nevertheless label exactly 50% as meeting the rule. That boundary is inconsistent across the official guidance; confirm it with Apex before relying on an exact 50% result.

Under the stricter wording, a $1,500 best day requires more than $3,000 total cycle net profit. At $3,100, it is about 48.39%. BoxcarPrime’s stated 40% ceiling requires at least $3,750 while that best day remains $1,500: $1,500 ÷ 0.40 = $3,750. This calculation addresses consistency only; the payout-day, balance and cap requirements still apply to the relevant program.

A 100% split does not mean all profit can be withdrawn

Assume a first simulated-funded payout cycle with five $800 net-profit days, no other gains or losses, no prior withdrawals, and all other trading and eligibility requirements satisfied. Total profit is $4,000, the balance is $54,000 and the best day is 20% of cycle profit.

For either new Apex $50K PA, $54,000 − $52,100 leaves $1,900 above the safety net, but the first-payout cap limits the request to $1,500. At a 100% split, the trader share is $1,500. For BoxcarPrime, the $2,000 cap allows the full $1,900 excess; the 90% trader share is $1,710. These figures are before any payment-provider fees and illustrate the published rules, not actual trading results.

BoxcarFlex is a different comparison: its $50K simulated-funded account has no consistency requirement or retained payout buffer. It needs five $150 net-profit days and a positive cycle, with a request limited to 50% of cycle profit and a $2,000 cap. In this same first-cycle example, the gross request could be $2,000 and the 90% trader share $1,800. Its evaluation has a 52% best-day ceiling, unlike the three evaluations above.

Compare the checkout package and data connection

Apex’s new evaluations are one-time purchases with no automatic renewal. A failed or expired new evaluation cannot be reset or extended; another purchase starts a new attempt. Boxcar evaluations are also one-time purchases without renewal or an evaluation-to-funded activation fee. Eligible Boxcar evaluations can be reset; an earned funded account that breaches cannot use that evaluation reset path.

Apex’s activation guidance gives seven calendar days after the evaluation is marked Passed to activate the matching PA. Its billing pages describe an activation payment, while the current homepage selector also lists a No Activation Fee option. Use the fee shown for the selected package when calculating the cost of passing.

Apex lists Rithmic, Tradovate and WealthCharts choices. Level I data is included with its new evaluations; depth-of-market data can cost extra and follows the selected provider’s billing rules. Boxcar uses Rithmic across its account types. Verify that your intended platform supports that connection and include any separate platform, data or connection fees in the comparison.

Six Apex payouts end the PA; live trading is separate

The new Apex EOD and Intraday payout pages limit each PA to six approved payouts and say the account then closes. Another PA requires qualifying through another evaluation. This is not a promise of a live account; Apex describes live trading as a separate invitation.

BoxcarPrime reaches live-account review after five approved payouts, which also does not guarantee approval. When it moves live, remaining simulated profits are forfeited rather than transferred; an eligible final payout is settled separately.
