Getting started

How Boxcar works, what you can trade, and where to begin.

How does Boxcar Trading work?

Boxcar offers simulated futures trading programs. Meet your plan's requirements to qualify for a simulated-funded account, where eligible performance can earn approved real payouts; selected traders may later be offered a live account after separate review and onboarding.

Which Boxcar program should I choose?

BoxcarPrime, BoxcarScale, and BoxcarPayout begin with an evaluation; BoxcarFunded starts at the simulated-funded stage. Each is offered at $25K, $50K, $100K, and $150K, with different consistency, drawdown, sizing, and payout rules.

What changes if I skip the evaluation?

An Eval requires you to meet its profit target and all applicable rules before qualifying for a separate simulated-funded account. BoxcarFunded skips that first step and begins with its own funded-stage rules; it still uses virtual funds and is not a live brokerage account.

When will my trading account be ready?

Check your account status and trading access details in My Portal; a paid order or a reached profit target does not by itself confirm that the account is ready. There is no Eval-to-funded activation fee. If you meet all pass requirements but the account still shows Eval, contact support with its account ID and the date you reached the target.

Which markets can I trade?

Boxcar simulated accounts support approved futures on CME, CBOT, NYMEX, and COMEX, including equity indexes, currencies, energy, metals, and agricultural products. Only approved contracts may be traded, and your account's position limit applies to the combined size of your trades.

Which trading platforms can I use?

Boxcar lists Rithmic Trader Pro, NinjaTrader, MotiveWave, Quantower, Sierra Chart, Jigsaw, Bookmap, ATAS, and MultiCharts. Use the trading credentials and setup guidance for your account in My Portal; your trading login is separate from your Boxcar website login.

Accounts and plans

Account limits, fees, resets, and keeping your account active.

How many accounts can I have at once?

Household limits are 10 Eval accounts, 10 combined Eval and simulated-funded accounts, and no more than 5 simulated-funded accounts across all plan families. The live-account limit is 5; a household cannot continue trading simulated accounts while a household member is live.

Can I register through my business?

You may register through a business you are authorized to represent without prior written approval; enter its full legal name in both the First name and Last name fields. Each trader has one permanent personal or business profile, with no conversion or replacement to change its type. Business payouts must go to the verified business after its formation, ownership, and required owner-ID documents are reviewed.

Are account fees one-time or monthly?

Boxcar account purchases are one-time charges unless checkout clearly discloses a different charge that you authorize. Eval fees do not automatically renew; platform subscriptions, exchange data, and third-party connection fees are separate unless an offer expressly includes them.

Can I reset an evaluation account?

A paid reset restarts an eligible Eval at its original balance and risk settings; it does not change the configuration you purchased. Contact support with the account identifier to confirm eligibility, the exact fee, and payment instructions before paying. BoxcarFunded has no reset purchase.

How long can an account be inactive?

A trading account must have at least $1 of net trading profit or loss within 30 calendar days or it is subject to permanent removal. Signing in or viewing charts does not meet this requirement. An Eval has no fixed completion deadline, but the inactivity rule still applies.

How do I close my account or request data deletion?

Email support@boxcartrading.com to ask about closing a trading account or to make a privacy request, and include your account email and where you live. Your permanent Boxcar profile is separate from your trading accounts; you cannot deactivate or replace it to create another personal or business profile. Privacy requests remain subject to applicable rights, identity verification, and legal retention requirements.

Trading rules

Trading hours, risk limits, and the strategies allowed on your plan.

When can I trade, and when must I be flat?

Eval and simulated-funded accounts must be flat by 4:45 PM ET Monday through Friday and may trade again at 6:00 PM ET for the next session when the market is open. The scheduled flatten is not itself a breach, but exchange early closes still apply. Live accounts follow their separate live trading schedule.

Can I hold positions overnight or over a weekend?

On Eval and simulated-funded accounts, you may trade during the overnight portion of an open session, but positions cannot remain open through the required daily close or over a weekend. Follow an earlier exchange close on holidays rather than the normal 4:45 PM ET cutoff. Live accounts follow their separate live trading schedule.

Can I trade around news releases?

News trading is allowed in BoxcarPrime, BoxcarScale, BoxcarFunded, and the BoxcarPayout Eval. BoxcarPayout simulated-funded accounts must remain flat from one minute before through one minute after a high-impact USD event; opening or holding a position during that window is a hard breach.

What is Boxcar's rule on hedging?

Holding long and short positions in the same exact contract is prohibited, and opposing positions in the same or correlated products across separate accounts are prohibited, including other traders' accounts and accounts at other firms. Within one Eval or simulated-funded account, opposing mini/micro pairs and opposing positions in different products are allowed within all other rules and limits. These same-account exceptions do not carry over to live accounts.

Are very short scalping trades allowed?

Genuine short-term scalping is allowed when it reflects realistic execution. An account can be flagged for review when more than half of its profits come from trades held for five seconds or less; a flag is not an automatic drawdown breach. Exploiting simulated fills, delayed prices, or system behavior is prohibited.

What trading activity is considered system abuse?

High-volume automated trading designed to exploit extremely short-lived price or execution differences is prohibited. Exploiting simulated fills, delayed prices, technical defects, or prohibited offsets across accounts also violates the rules.

Can I use bots, automated strategies, or a trade copier?

You may use automated strategies and copy trades across your own Boxcar accounts. Each account must follow its own loss, position-size, session, news, and conduct rules, and you remain responsible for orders placed by your software. A copier does not combine accounts into one balance or risk limit.

What should I do during a halt, data problem, or disconnection?

Record the affected account, time, platform messages, and relevant screenshots or logs, then contact support promptly. Boxcar reviews verified incidents and their effect on the account; a disconnection or third-party issue does not automatically qualify for a refund, account adjustment, or payout.

Payouts and billing

Payout qualification, payment questions, and billing support.

Can I trade cryptocurrency or pay with crypto?

Cryptocurrency products are not on Boxcar's published list of approved futures. For purchases, use only a payment method shown for your order on secure checkout; do not assume cryptocurrency payments are available.

What share of an approved payout do I receive?

The published simulated-funded profit split is 90% to the trader and 10% to Boxcar. The split applies to approved payouts that meet the Program Rules; simulated gains are not automatically withdrawable funds.

When does my account qualify for a payout?

You must meet your plan's current profit, trading-day, consistency, buffer, and request-limit requirements, plus any required verification. The minimum request is $500, and eligibility starts a new cycle after an approved payout.

How do I request a payout?

Confirm that your account meets every payout requirement, then contact support with your account ID, account email, and requested amount. Support will confirm the available payment method and any required verification; My Portal's Payouts page shows payout history and status. Requests are final, so check the account and amount before submitting.

Which payment methods are available for payouts?

Contact support to confirm the available payout methods for your country, any fees, and the payee details required before submitting a request. Do not assume that a method available for purchases can also receive a payout.

When will I need to verify my identity?

Boxcar may require identity, residency, tax, sanctions, payment, or fraud checks before opening an account, granting access, approving a payout, or offering live capital. Contact support for the secure verification process; do not send unredacted identity documents through ordinary chat or email.

How long does payout processing take?

Payout processing is targeted at about two business days. This is an estimate: account review, weekends, banks, payment providers, and required verification can affect when you receive the money.

How can I get a receipt or invoice?

Contact support with your account email and order identifier to request a receipt or invoice for a purchase. Include the purchase date and amount if you cannot find the order identifier, and never send your full card number or security code.

Do I need to provide tax forms for payouts?

Boxcar may request tax forms, report payments, or withhold amounts when required by law. You are responsible for your own taxes and filings; contact support to confirm which documents are required for your account.

When can I request a refund?

Boxcar corrects duplicate charges, amounts that differ from what you authorized, orders it cancels or cannot materially deliver under the refund policy, and charges that must be refunded by law. An unused purchase may receive discretionary review before any simulated order is placed; a failed account, lack of use, or change of mind does not normally qualify.

Support and troubleshooting

Get help with an account, connection, or rule you need clarified.

How can I reach support, and when will I hear back?

Use Contact support on this page or email support@boxcartrading.com. Include your account identifier and a short description so the team can investigate. For a time-sensitive issue, explain the urgency and ask support to confirm current availability.

Why is my account still processing or missing from my platform?

Check the account status and trading access details in My Portal, and use your trading login rather than your website password. A paid order alone does not mean trading access is ready. If access is missing or you cannot connect, contact support with the account identifier, platform name, timestamp, and exact error message, with credentials removed from screenshots.

Why can't I trade, or why is my account liquidation-only?

Check the trading schedule, account status, and risk limits first: hitting a Daily Loss Limit locks trading until the next session, while touching the Maximum Loss Limit is a hard breach. If the restriction is unclear, send support the account identifier and exact platform message before placing further orders.

Where can I find the detailed rules for my plan?

Open your plan's guide for its evaluation, trading-risk, and payout requirements. The Program Rules supplied for your purchase control; contact support if you need help identifying the terms that apply.
